Jesus, our Chelator

I know, the title is weird. Trust me, I'm staring at it wonder where Holy Spirit is taking us. I'm going along for the journey too. Months ago, Holy Spirit told me I'd be writing some prayers for special needs parents to use, some of the prayers He's told me to pray already. This one, He hasn't yet. But He did talk to me about the concept of asking Jesus to remove heavy metals from the body.

We've had my son's hair analyzed and he's not high in heavy metals. However, there are differing opinions as to if hair analysis is reliable in determining if heavy metals are actually present in the brain, or at all for that matter. And, there is a large camp in the ASD community that believes heavy metals being present in the brain play a role in dysfunction. I'm not here to argue for or against those theories. I'm here as a conduit of God to offer a prayer for those who are concerned with heavy metals and need God to intervene.

So, Jesus the Chelator, huh? Let's dive in. What exactly is a chelator? In short, it's a substance that goes into the body and grabs onto metals like a claw-especially heavy metals like mercury, aluminum, lead, cadmium, and arsenic, and carries them out of the body usually via urine or poop. Once the chelating agent binds to the heavy metal, the chelator-metal complex becomes water soluble. (Jesus knows a thing or two about water!) Finally, the kidneys or liver eliminate this complex from the body as mentioned above. So, where does Jesus come in?

Everything on earth, seen and unseen was made through Jesus. Every atom, every molecule, every metal, every organ, every body was made for Him and through Him according to Colossians 1:16. "For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him." (NIV) Follow me, here. We also know according to Matthew 28:18 that everything is subject to Him. "Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me". I mean, it makes sense. If something was created through you, it would make sense if you had authority over it, to say and do with that creation as you pleased. I can get down with that.

Let's continue. Jesus had a habit while here on earth as a Man of removing things that didn't belong, that were out of place, and that aren't where they should be. Look in all of the Gospels and you will find countless stories of commanding demons out of people, as well as healing illnesses that were afflicting the body. We also see this propensity to dislodge trespassers evidenced when " Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!"(Matthew 21:12-13 NLT) He displaces what shouldn't be there. The temple of God wasn't built for what was going on, it was supposed to be sacred, yet others likened to thieves and robbers had managed to gain access, operating in that temple unchecked until Jesus walked in and kicked them all out. He is known to kick out what doesn't belong. Let's go further by remembering that our bodies are now considered the temple of God. (Oooooh, this is getting good!) Paul writes, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; for you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

I'm just gonna keep dropping Scripture as Holy Spirit is giving it to me. Let's visit the book of John. In it, the beloved disciple quotes Jesus saying, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10) And now let's work the water in, we need water in this equation! In John 4 He tells the woman at the well, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." He then goes on to tell her in their conversation, "Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:10,14)

Now, let's bring it all together! Everything that has ever been made was made through Jesus and for Jesus. That includes our bodies. He has ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and on earth, over ALL THINGS. He is recorded in the Bible as taking up issue with anything that doesn't belong in the temple of God, kicking trespassers out and knocking around inanimate objects! Our bodies are the temple of God, housing the Holy Spirit. Jesus came to give us life, an express juxtaposition to the thief that is stealing, killing, and destroying our physical, mental, and emotional health through heavy metals in our bodies. Jesus, a gift from God, will give living water if you ask! And according to our chelation chat above, that living water is needed to sweep everything dislodged out of the body through the kidneys and the liver. I mean, this makes perfect sense to me. But then again, I pray strange prayers!

So now what? I'm so glad you asked! Paul tells us in Hebrews 4:16,"So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most."

Let's ask for Jesus to be our chelator, removing heavy metals that taking up residence in our bodies and the bodies of our children.

Holy Spirit, have Your way and help me write this prayer please. This is, after all, your idea. I'm literally just the messenger.

"Father God, I come boldly before Your throne, asking for mercy and grace! There are heavy metals in my body (or the body of my child {name}) that shouldn't be there. They are killing, stealing, and destroying Your temple, causing dysfunction and disorder. I ask, Father, that Your Spirit, the same Spirit that empowered Jesus to cast out demons and gave Him the boldness to dislodge temple trespassers would sweep through my body (or the body of my child), dislodging all heavy metals. Father, I ask that the living water of Jesus would bind to these heavy metals creating a water soluble complex that would be easily excreted from my body (or the body of my child). I ask for this in confidence and faith, because Jesus said He came to give us abundant life. I'm asking for that now! I also ask that all damage done by heavy metals being present in the body is healed now. Please Holy Spirit, drive out what should not be in my body (or the body of my child), and fill me with living water! I ask these things in the name and identity of Jesus, my Lord and King! Amen!
